I’m a Winner!

A little background before I begin my story…

About a year ago, I entered a contest through one of the local televison stations called “The phrase that pays”. You enter online and then watch that channel from 8-11 and if your name gets put on tv, you call the number and say “My ABC is WOTV 4″. The prizes range from $100-$400 cash and $100 Meijer gas cards.

So here’s my story:

Thursday night I was home with the kids making cookies for Aaron to take to school for his birthday treat (BTW-We had an ice storm later that night and all the schools were closed Friday). Doug was out helping Andrea (his brother’s wife) move a couple of thing into their new house, then he was going to stop at McDonald’s and come home. I had just just turned the tv to “Survivor” when the phone rang. It was Doug telling me to turn the tv to channel 4 and that I needed to call the number because my name was on the screen. By the time I got the the right channel, they had already taken it off the screen. I had no idea what number to call! Doug arived home soon after and was frantically calling around trying to get this number.

His cousin, Kylee, found the number for the station, which in turn is how I was able to get the contest number. I called and said the corny phrase and I ended up winning a $100 Meijer Gas card! It just arrived about twenty minutes ago via Fed Ex. (Good thing, too…I need to put fuel in the truck before I go to work!).

You may be wondering how Doug knew about all this when he wasn’t even home…well, he was sitting in McDonald’s drive thru when his phone started ringing off the hook with people telling him that my name was on tv. First one of his co-workers called him, then one of his uncles, then an aunt…a lucky break on our part!

Yay for me! I’m a winner!
Have a great week everyone!
