19, 19, 1985!

The day I had been training for for almost 7 months…the Borgess Run for the Health of It Half Marathon!

It was cool and sunny, perfect for running.  I had my running buddy, Reita with me.  We started this journey together and we were going to finish it together, too.

Ready to run!

13 miles is a LONG run! Previous to this race, 10.25 miles was my longest run.  I kept saying to myself going into this “If you can do 10, you can do 13”. Easier said than done that’s for sure!  The last 3 miles were the most difficult and I found that I struggled the most through mile 12.

At mile 9.

My official time was 2:53:56.  That time included 2 bathroom stops.  My total running time minus bathroom breaks was 2:47:59.  I was figuring I’d go at least 2:45, so I am very happy with my time. I just wanted to finish in under 3 hours.

Here are some more photos!

This is definitely an experience I’ll remember forever!

I’m feeling pretty good today, I was pretty sore this morning until I started moving around and such.  I did aggravate an old ankle injury, so I have a little bit of swelling in my right ankle.  I’m sure that with ice and rest, it’ll be fine in a couple of days.

Overall it was an amazing experience!  One that I will definitely repeat at some point, I’m just not sure when!  =)

Run happy!

Our Lives, Lately

Busy times in our neck of the woods!  So much going on now that the kids are in school.  Concerts, open houses, conferences and the like.

I’ve been running lots of races…and now I’m training for my first half marathon in May 2014!  I’ve lost 107 pounds now…I feel amazing!

Warning…lots of photos coming up…It’s so hard to choose!

Quiet morning about town.

I’m Losing It

A few months back, I casually mentioned that I was losing weight.  Well, I’m still at it.  I haven’t shared any photos here yet, but I think it’s high time I do.

This was Mother’s Day last year.  Despite my smile, I was miserable.  I had just lost my  Mom.  Plus, I looked terrible.  I was tipping the scales at 332 pounds.  The day after this photo was taken, I started my journey to a healthier lifestyle.

These are my most recent photos.  I am down 76.8 pounds, so I weigh 255.2.  I still have 105.2 pounds left to lose, but I already feel so much better about myself.  I have more energy, I love exercise, I look better, I can run and am participating in at least 2 5K runs this year.  All that and more in just 9 months.

I will post my progress here occasionally, but if you want to follow along, check out my  blog She’s Losing It.  You can also find me on My Fitness Pal, user name cjmcmillan.

Last week we spent the week at Jellystone Park in Fremont, Indiana!   We spent a couple of days there last year and loved it so much we vowed to come back and stay for a week and that’s exactly what we did!

We spent the week relaxing, swimming, fishing, watching movies, playing games, doing crafts, hula hooping, eating pizza and ice cream and so much more!  I was sad to leave Saturday morning, but it is good to be home and sleeping in my own bed again.

Lots and lots of memories!  Can’t wait until next year!

Today you are nine.  Watching you grow has been an amazing experience!

You are such a special little girl.  Things are not always as easy for you as we would like, but you persevere.  You have taught me about life and love.  Having you in my life has made me a better parent and a better person.

You are so loved. Today and every day.

Happy Ninth Birthday, Taylor!

Love, Mom
